Case Study – Fforest lodge, Tintern, Monmouthshire

Cilfiegan sawmill were proud suppliers of Japanese larch cladding used in Tamayo and Nigel Hussey’s Japanese style property which featured on grand designs which was broadcast on channel 4 in October 2013.

The Japanese larch was locally sourced then milled and visually graded on site at Cilfiegan Sawmill before being strength tested by Dainis Dauksta from Woodknowledge Wales.

The larch boards were then stacked with 25mm sticks in between each layer in order to be left to air dry to reduce the moisture content within the timber for six weeks. The larch was then machined to a bespoke profile by EZT Mouldings.
