Kiln Dried Oak
Kiln drying oak decreases the moisture content within the timber to approximately 10-18% depending on its thickness. Kiln drying oak is a quicker process than air drying and helps prevent the movement and shrinkage of the oak when used in its final form. Achieving a lower moisture content makes the timber ideal for internal doors, window, shelves and flooring as well as joinery products.

Air Dried Oak
Air drying oak also decreases the moisture content within the timber, minimising movement and shrinkage when used in its final form. Although air drying oak is a longer and slower process than kilning, the moisture content will stall fall to values between 16-20% depending on the thicknesses of the timber and the period of time it has been drying. Air dried oak is commonly used for doors, flooring, skirting and architrave as well as some joinery products.
